Biosecurity + Animal Health
Biosecurity is a very important requirement in a laying hen operation. There are several factors that must be exercised in order to ensure the security of the hens. Factors include that each company should have a biosecurity and animal health plan, all areas of the house must be kept in good repair and kept free of materials hazardous to the birds; the hen’s houses must be cleaned following each flock of birds and birds should be inspected daily.
UEP guidelines state that the birds should not be exposed to loud noises or visitors, including people, wild birds, rodents, pets or any other animal.
