It All Started with A Wedding Gift

Oakdell Egg Farms, Utah

Welcome to our farm, Oakdell Egg Farm. This year marks our 100th year anniversary for serving the West region. This farm started off in 1908 with only ten chickens and one hard-working young man named Cecil Woodward. Cecil's father-in-law sent him the ten chickens as a wedding gift. Over the next few decades Cecil worked hard in the farming business to produce high quality eggs. His farm now serves Washington, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, and Colorado.

In 1954, Cecil's youngest son, Paul joined his father in helping out with the farm. After a great deal of planning, Cecil and Paul joined with Marlow, Cecil's other son and Paul's older brother who owned another nearby farm. Part of Marlow's farm was converted to a larger feed mill with storage units for grain and other ingredients. It was about this time in April of 1966 that their father Cecil died.

Marlow and Paul then joined with a neighbor Ramon Wright, to form a farm where the Wrights would raise the baby chickens. This corporation, formed in 1969 was named "Ritewood." The "Rite" portion of the name came from Ramon Wright's last name, and the "wood" came from the Woodward name.

In April of 1984, the Woodwards secured complete ownership of Oakdell Egg Farms, and soon thereafter Oakdell started producing and marketing their eggs to large grocery chains.

Our founder Cecil Woodward and his sons Marlow and Paul have now passed away. I believe they would be happy to know what great things Oakdell Egg Farms are doing today.

All of us at Oakdell Egg Farms have continued the tradition of producing the freshest, highest quality eggs for our customers. We also make sure our chickens receive the upmost humane care. Several subsequent generations of both the Wrights and Woodward families continue to be actively involved in the farms along with many other long-time friends who are committed to making this happen.
